Tenerife has something for everyone

Tour operator Thomas Cook has peered into its crystal ball of travel and foreseen which destinations will be in demand this Easter.

Tenerife, South Africa and Thailand were all on the tour operator’s hit list while traditional city break destinations, such as Paris and Rome, were also tipped as likely favourites.

A spokesperson for the organisation said: “Disneyland Paris is also a key choice especially with Eurostar’s recent move to St Pancras making it more accessible throughout the UK.

“For those looking for something warmer, Monte Carlo, Lisbon, Madrid and Seville are popular with Playa Arena Beachthose after a short break in the sun.”

She added that locations such as Tenerife, Gran Canaria and Lanzarote are popular retreats at Easter as they have “something for everyone”.

Eight meter waves batter Northern Spanish Coast

Strong winds blew at up to 100 kilometres per hour and waves up to eight metres high lashed the beach front of the Spanish Basque city of San Sebastian, smashing seaside walkways and bars, officials said.

Boats moored in the harbour of the town near the French border in northern Spain were overturned and cars swept down streets by waves.

Big Wave San Sebastian Northern SpainSan Sebastian’s famous Concha beachfront was badly hit by the storm, coming just a week before Easter holidays which usually bring high numbers of tourists.
Water inundated some streets, garages and basements, shattered windows, knocked over street lamps and containers and damaged parked cars. One woman was reported slightly injured after being swept away by a current.
The damage could take weeks to repair although it was too early to say how much it would cost.

Spain’s state meteorological service has issued a warning of strong winds and waves along the country’s Atlantic coast from Galicia to the Basque Country.


Disney on Ice - 2 extra shows

Disney on Ice - snow white and the seven dwarfs

Due to huge demand for the Disney on Ice spectacular, two more shows will be added to the programme on March 18th at 4pm and 7.30pm.

The show will take place inside the Pabellón Santiago Martín (La Laguna), where the spectacular ice rink will be installed for the show to take place.
The shows’ time table are as follows;

March 14th 16:00 and 19:30
March 15th 12:30, 16:00 and 19:30
March 16th 12:30, 16:00 and 19:30
March 17 th 16:00 and 19:30
March 18th 16:00 and 19:30

Tickets for the shows range from €15 to €40 each and are on sale on the Internet at  www.elcorteingles.es/entradas and www.generaltickets.com/cajacanarias as well as in the Tres de Mayo commercial centre in Santa Cruz.

Disney on Ice brings an all American cast with the best ice-skaters representing famous Disney characters, such as Mickey and Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, Pluto, Baloo, Snow White and Cinderella, as well as The Incredibles, set in a décor which copies Disneyland in the 1960s to the last detail.

The show is presently touring cities like Madrid, Barcelona, Bilbao, Malaga and Sevilla, ending its Spanish tour in La Laguna.
