Due to the retirement of the owner Roger Diss, The Tenerife Sun, as we knew it is no more. The fortnightly paper, with the same title will continue under the management of Paul Knight, who is determined to maintain the quality and readability of the popular newspaper.
It is expected that the first issue under the new management will appear on Thursday, March 20, 2008, providing regular readers with all the news and features they have enjoyed over the years.
Roger Diss has expressed his thanks to all the loyal readers and advertisers who gave so much support and encouragement throughout his 10-year managing editorship and wishes the new management well in continuing the endeavour.

The thief stole €4,400 in first robbery on 22nd February then yesterday at around 2pm the 2nd theif ran off with €2500 in cash which he demanded from the cashier while threatening her, and others in the bank, with a gun.

The merchant ship ‘Maro’ with 54 tons of fuel on board has been lying aground off the coast of Guipúzcoa, Northern Spain since last Thursday night. The Coastguard originally planned to start the operation to transfer the fuel on Sunday, but were forced to postpone the attempt due to the bad weather. Also reported was a car which was lifted off the ground by a giant wave and tossed through the plate-glass front of a hotel restaurant.
The regional government is urging people in the Canaries to take extra caution when near the seafront and in exposed places.
